abstract = "In this paper, surface UV-coating spacers with four kinds of surface coating schemes were prepared, including full coating (fully coated), localized coating near high voltage (HV-coated), at the middle of spacer surface (middle coated) and near grounded electrode (GND-coated). The composite coating consists of BaTiO fillers and UV-cured resin matrix. Then, the flashover voltage of surface coating spacers was tested under 50Hz AC voltage in SF6 atmosphere. The results show that among the four coating schemes, HV-coated scheme is expected to improve the flashover voltage of spacer, but only when dielectric constant of surface coating reaches very high (1000). This research offers fundamental guidance for the design and manufacturing of surface functionally graded material (SFGM) with outstanding surface flashover performance.",
