Study on two-phase flow of cell and cell suspension perfusion in artificial bone microtubules

摘要

It is necessary to perform numerical computation of two-phase flow of cell and cell suspension to predict the cell dispersion and the spots of cell deposition so as to guide the flow channel design of artificial bone and perfusion technology in perfusion test of cells in vitro. The fields of velocity, distribution of cell volume concentration and the fields of pressure in three flow channel networks (a, b, c) are studied. On the basis of it, the spots of cell deposition are analyzed. The results indicate that the most concentration spots are near the joint of Halverson canal and Volkmann canal and the location of which distance is 0.3 r(radius) from centerline to the bottom of microtubules. The distribution of cell volume concentration is in the range of 0.42%-5.56%, 0.36%-2.23%, 1.94%-2.06% in a, b and c flow channel networks respectively. The speed of cell-phase is higher than that of liquid phase in certain transition zone. In the zone of proximal tube wall, some of the cells are deposited on the wall because of the diffusion and adhesiveness of the cells. In the zone of main stream, the speed of cell-phase is lower than liquid phase, but most of the cells are dragged by liquid.
