摘要

Law of tensile strength of short fiber/rubber composites (SFRCs) was studied for the first time. Based on Cox shear-lag and characters of SFRC, a new mixture law was put forward and the longitudinal tensile strengths of SFRCs were predicted. The mechanism of the tensile fracture of SFRCs was investigated. The results show that a new model includes more comprehensive structure factors and the predicted values can well suit experimental values. The fracture of SFRCs is controlled by the interface between fibers and matrix. A competitive course between increasing interfacial stress and increasing tensile stress on the fibers, where the former restricted the latter.
