Study on electrical characteristics and measurement of electrical parameters for outer semiconducting layer of XLPE cable

XLPE cable is used in power system widely because of many particular characteristics. In recent years new type transformer and motor of XLPE cable winding are appearing. Because of no copper shield, there is only outer semiconducting layer outside, it is very necessary to study the electrical characteristics of outer semiconducting layer of XLPE cable in details. In this paper, according to experiment research and analysis of the outer semiconducting layer of XLPE cable, the electrical characteristics of the outer semiconducting layer under DC and AC (under 2 MHz) is obtained. It provides a theoretical basic for the research of transient characteristics of XLPE cable windings.
