摘要

OBJECTIVE: To study the anti-inflammatory effects of 3,4-oxo- isopropylidene-shikimic acid (ISA). METHODS: Auricle tumefaction induced by dimethylbenzene in mice, tumefaction in feet by carrageenan and granuloma induced by cotton ball implantation in rats were applied for anti-inflammation experiment. The contents of PGE2 and MDA in rat paw were measured. RESULTS: ISA significantly reduced the degree of tumefaction in mice with auricle induced by dimethylbenzene, inhibited tumefaction in feet by carrageenan and decreased the weight of granuloma induced by cotton-pellet implantation in subcutananeouse part. In the carrageenan-induced model, ISA decreased the contents of PGE2 and MDA in rat paw. ISA significantly reduced the degree of tumefaction in auricle induced by dimethylbenzene in mice removed adrenal. CONCLUSION: ISA has significant anti-inflammatory effect which may be related to inhibiting the production of prostaglandin E2 and protecting free radical against oxidation.
