Significance of NM23, c-erbB-2 gene expression in lung carcinomas

In order to study the relationships among expression of nm23, c-erbB-2 gene, prognosis of lung carcinoma and biological behavior, 41 cases of lung carcinoma and 30 cases of adjacent normal tissues were investigated through immunohistochemical ABC method. The results showed that the positive rates of expression of nm23, c-erbB-2 gene in lung carcinoma was significantly higher than that in normal tissue (P < 0.001). The correlation of expression nm23, c-erbB-2 gene is rather significant (P < 0.02). The nm23 and c-erbB-2 gene expression is positively correlated with pathological grades (PG), TNM stages and hilar or/and mediastinal lymph node involvement (H or/and ML1) (P < 0.001 or 0.01 or 0.05). Our results suggest that the expression levels of nm23 and c-erbB-2 gene may be a valuable marker for diagnosis and evaluation of biological behavior and prognosis of lung carcinoma.
