abstract = "Aiming to suppress cracking in the laser direct forming process of DZ125 superalloy, the micro analysis method was adopted to investigate the forming mechanism of cracks. On this basis, a method combining substrate preheating with stress relieving of equal temperature was proposed to suppress cracking. The results show that most cracks belong to hot cracks. The low melting point eutectics between columnar crystals are the main sources of cracks. With the increase of temperature, the crack width declines gradually. However, crack number increases at the early stage and then decreases with the temperature. The reason is that although heating can reduce thermal stress, it is beneficial to the formation of eutectics between columnar crystals, resulting in the generation of more crack sources. However, the generation of crack sources can be suppressed effectively with a higher temperature. Compared with natural cooling, stress relieving can suppress the propagation of the crack sources, which decreases the cracking tendency obviously.",
