Platinum-based alloy and intermetallic nanostructures as electrocatalysts for methanol oxidation and oxygen reduction reactions

摘要

Nonhydrolytic colloidal methods for the generation of structurally and compositionally controlled platinum based nanoparticles were studied. Besides alloy and intermetallic phases of PtM (M = Fe, Co, Ni, Rh, Pb, etc.), the synthesis of several different kinds of heterogeneous and bimetallic nanostructures were described. The formation mechanism and the correlation between the structure and electrocatalytic property of these nanomaterials were discussed using direct methanol oxidation and oxygen reduction as the model reactions. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the AIChE Annual Meeting (Salt Lake City, UT 11/4-9/2007).
