Low-Power Inductor-Less Optical Receiver for 50G PON in 28nm CMOS

摘要

This paper proposes a low-power inductorless optical receiver for 50G PON optical network unit in 28nm CMOS. A feedforward-structure TIA is utilized with a trans-impedance gain of 50 dB Ω, which is almost doubled compared to the single-stage TIA with the same bandwidth. With energy efficiency of 0.34pJ/bit, the whole receiver achieves a trans-impedance gain of 74.6 dB Ω with equivalent input noise current of 3.14 μ Arms and input noise density of 20.3 pAHz.
