Low complexity pilot allocation in massive MIMO systems

摘要

In this paper, we propose a pilot sequences allocation scheme to mitigate the impact of pilot contamination in massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. First, we derive the uplink system sum rate when the number of antennas at the base station tends to infinity. According to the expression, pilot contamination is the only impairment to the system performance. Then, we build a pilot allocation optimization model to maximize the system sum rate. In order to obtain the optimal allocation result, all the possible allocations need to be searched which leads to high computational complexity. To reduce the complexity, a novel pilot allocation algorithm is proposed. The simulation results show that our proposed pilot sequences allocation scheme can achieve a better performance compared with random allocation scheme and has low complexity.
