摘要

A cantilevered carbon nanotube/amorphous Si coaxial nanostructure is studied with in situ transmission electron microscopy. The α-Si shell breaks at the anchoring point to the supporting Si substrate. The broken α-Si shell is pulled out while the CNT core remains intact, illustrating the striking interfacial mechanical properties between the CNT core and the α-Si shell.
