N2 - This article proposes a finite control set model predictive torque control (FCS MPTC) scheme based on three-phase four-leg inverter to suppress torque ripple and reduce the sharp current drop at the initial stages of the commutation regions. First, the operating modes of three-phase four-leg topology are analyzed, and the sectors are divided according to the operation of switched reluctance motor (SRM) on this topology. Then, predictive models for the current and torque in the single-phase conduction regions are derived using Le-Huy model and candidate voltage vectors. The proposed FCS MPTC scheme addresses the difficulty in predicting phase voltage during commutation regions by using the characteristic of equal current of two phases during these stages, achieving full-cycle FCS MPTC. Furthermore, to reduce computational burden while ensuring torque ripple suppression, the switching states are optimized based on the potential operating states. Eventually, experiments are carried out on a three-phase 750 W 12/8 SRM to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. The results demonstrate that the proposed FCS MPTC scheme improves the effect of torque ripple suppression compared to existing schemes.
