Experimental study on breaking capacity of splitter arc extinction type load switch in medium high voltage ring main unit

Current breaking experiments on a certain type of medium high voltage ring main unit's SF ₆ load switch were conducted. The arc movement characteristics during breaking process were observed, and the movement law was revealed by the images recorded by a high-speed digital camera. According to the analysis of the experimental results, the load switch was improved correspondingly and validated by test. This study may provide a reference for design and optimization of load switches.
