Experimental investigation of heat transfer and friction on ducts with winglet fins

摘要

A new type of ducts with winglet on the walls has been investigated experimentally in detail to find a more effective cooling structure for the turbine blade. In the range of Reynolds number from 5×103 to 4.7×104, the results indicate that the heat transfer performance of the new type of ducts is superior to the conventional structure with transverse disturbances. The comparison under identical pump power condition reveals that the Nusselt number ratio Nu/Nuo of the enhancement duct to the smooth duct ranges from 1.7 to 3.5 for the new structure while this ratio is usually no more than 1.5 for the conventional ducts. At the same mass flow the ratio Nu/Nuo for the winglet ducts is between 2.7 and 6.0.
