Elastic wave modeling with high dominant frequency directional point source using ADER-DG FE scheme

摘要

Many geophysical applications require point sources that are characterized by a Dirac Delta distribution in space. Traditional finite difference schemes use a continuous space function and meet this requirement hardly, especially with high dominant frequency. The arbitrary high-order discontinuous Galerkin Finite-Element (ADER-DG FE) scheme combines a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method with the ideas of the ADER time integration approach using arbitrary high-order derivatives. This method solves the elastic wave equation on triangular meshes and is able to deal with point sources characterized by a Delta distribution in space at any position in the computational domain. We compare ADER-DG scheme with Standard Staggered Grid Finite-Difference (SSG-FD) method and the difference is discussed in this paper. ADER-DG shows advantage in modeling with high dominant frequency directional point source.
