E-commerce applied in modern electricity market

The power industry is undergoing a great structural transformation in 1990's. In order for power system to accommodate the transformation, a transaction system plat should be constructed. In this paper, the necessity of bringing E-commerce into electricity market is described based on the analysis of the characteristics of modern electricity market and the hot topic E-commerce. Some possible application aspects of E-commerce in electricity market are discussed, such as information publishing and access, application services and electronic transactions. Also its associated techniques and safety problems are discussed and future applications of E-commerce in electricity market is forecasted.
