Discussion on the geometry and the secondary flow vortex structure of krain's experimental compressor impeller

摘要

The krain's LDA measurements of flow field inside the high-speed centrifugal compressor impeller are not only great significant for the understanding of this kind of complex flow mechanism, but also are vital to the validation of the fast developing CFD codes. The measured data has been widely used by many authors to verify their calculations. However, it was found that the geometry of the experimental impeller published in open literature is not covered the whole blade, and could bring considerable errors for the numerical analysis if it is taken as the actual geometry for the mesh generation. The complete geometry therefore has to be reconstructed by making use of various relative reports of the impeller published in different reference. The numerical analysis is then carried out with a multipurpose CFD code using the newly reconstructed complete geometry, and the formation and development of the secondary flow vortex motion is discussed in detail.
