abstract = "Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) is widely used in low grade heat recovery, where the expander is a key component. The design of an ORC experimental facility with twin screw expander is presented in this paper. In the ORC system, working fluid should be carefully considered for different heat source temperatures and working conditions. R245fa is selected to recover heat from hot water at about 90°C through the plate-type heat exchanger. An open drive screw refrigeration compressor is adapted to run in expander mode and it can be easily connected to the power measure instrument. The measuring system is designed to obtain both the system performance data and the expander working process parameters. Some other factors affecting the construction and operation of the experimental facility, such as the oil management, are also taken into account. The facility can be used for experimental investigation on performance of both the ORC system and the twin screw expander under different working conditions.",
