N2 - For meeting the explosively growing demand for inspection information in the manufacturing industry, a cloud inspection platform was designed and realized by combing traditional inspection techniques with cloud computing technology. According to the demand analysis for functionality, manageability and interaction, the architecture of cloud inspection plat which consisted of physical resources layer, virtual resources layer, core function layer, service development layer and service application layer was designed. The terminal hardware included sensors, instruments and inspected objects, was described and encapsulated as the virtual resource by XML language and Web Service technique. LXI instruments were selected as the control nodes to establish a virtual resource pool, which could provide the inspection service on demand. The service mode of cloud inspection was defined and a practical platform was developed to verify the availability of the inspection service.
