Communication platform for energy management system in a master-slave control structure microgrid

摘要

Renewable energy based micro grids have great importance to deal with energy-intensive. In this paper, we build a microgrid consist of AC line and DC line at first. A common microgrid has its own control strategy and energy management system. With a compatible energy management system, those distributed generations and energy storage units can mostly improve the micro grid's efficiency. During island mode, we should make full use of renewable energy to make self-sufficient. And during grid-connected mode, we should use economical method to reduce the cost paid for electricity. And even under some certain conditions, the micro gird can supply its electricity to the utility grid to improve the robustness and emergency capability. The communication system has a great significance for the energy management system in a micro grid. In this paper, we build a new communication platform for a micro grid with master-slaver strategy. We make full use of the communicating function of DSP, and with the help of human machine interface (HMI) on main devices, this communication platform can effectively complete the energy management task. On this platform, we use CAN-open protocol between master and slave inverter devices, use Modbus-RTU protocol to display data on every main device, use Modbus TCP protocol to build an Ethernet for control center. This paper will show the structure and function of the communication system in a micro grid with master-slaver strategy.
