abstract = "In this paper, we study the existing blockchain consensus mechanisms that can be applied to access control scenarios and analyze advantages and disadvantages for each category. Besides, we divide access control procedures into policy formulation, storage, and request processing. For each procedure, we summarize existing methods and analyze possible problems. Finally, we give the potential future research directions. This paper provides a clear framework for access control, on which researchers can explore new types of blockchain-based access control solutions to solve the existing security and performance problems.",
