摘要

The structural stiffness and coulomb damping of plate foil journal gas bearings are evaluated. The fact that foil may lift off from the elastic foundation at sub-ambient pressure is discussed in detail. The static performance of plate foil journal gas bearings is obtained. What is emphasized is the difference between the conventional bearings with rigid surface and compliant surface foil bearings.
