N2 - The generation and development of surface discharge is an important insulation problem to traditional high voltage equipment. And the triple junction of the device are often the weakness of surface discharge. In order to further improve the insulation stability of high voltage equipment, the research of surface discharge is very important. There are many people who have studied the generation and development of surface discharge from different aspects. Some of them have proposed new analysis methods. In order to acquire more detailed discharge information, the phase resolved PD (PRPD) pattern and pulse sequence analysis (PSA) are used to analyze surface discharge process. A method of estimating the PD inception and extinction voltages based on the PD signals are used in surface discharge. In this paper, by measuring the surface discharge of polypropylene film in air, the dV-dV plot, the number of PDs per cycle and PD inception and extinction voltage of different stages of surface discharge are studied. And the influence of different electrode distance on surface discharge are also be studied.
