An analysis of caries prevalence in 6-year-old and 12-year-old children in some areas of Shaanxi

The mobility of caries in 2042 cases 6-year-old and 2056 cases 12-year- old in the urban and rural areas of Shaanxi was observed and analysed. The results showed in 6-year-old group, there was no obvious difference between girls and boys in average dmft and the rate of catching caries in the deciduous teeth, in 12-year-old group, girls showed significantly higher average draft and the rate of catching caries in the permanent teeth than boys did. Children living in urban showed very significantly higher average draft, draft and the rate of catching caries than those in rural areas. Comparison with 1983 materials calculated, although some indices fulfilled the goals for oral health adopted by WHO, the rate of catching caries was higher in deciduous teeth of the urban children, it suggests that we should give more precautions to the preschool children.
