Advanced environmental/energy technology: Desulfurisation and fuel cell cogeneration

摘要

This article proposes the development of a new type of fuel cell device where a noxious gas - hydrogen sulfide, H2S - is consumed as fuel while producing electricity and heat. This new environmental/energy technology for desulfurization and fuel cell cogeneration offers a solution where an industrial pollutant is removed and at the same time electricity is produced in an efficient way. Because it operates at an intermediate temperature, the two types of devices/plants proposed here (planar and tubular) are based on highly cost-effective materials and technology. Current research is aimed at development of this technology for practical devices and plants.
