Acoustic Valve for Droplet Microfluidics

摘要

A concept of acoustic valve is reported, and also analyzed by simulation and realized through experiments. The acoustic valve is a controllable virtual barrier constructed by focused acoustic field, which can drive droplets into different branch channels, or just stops it in front of the valve.As a non-contact and low damage manipulation method, acoustic valve is suitable for microfluidic experiments in biochemical fields. Compared with other sorting methods, such as dielectric force and magnetic force, acoustic valve does not need high voltage and does not need to modify the target. Compared with other acoustic sorting methods, instead of only solid discrete phases with larger acoustic impedance difference compared with liquid continuous phase can be sorted, the acoustic valve has a more efficient performance, which can effectively and quickly manipulate liquid discrete phases.
