A study on the relationship between cognitive function and cerebral stroke-related leukoariosis

Objective: To explore the relationship of cerebral vascular disease-related leukoariosis(LA) and the cognitive function. Method: We assessed the cognitive function by a neurobehavioral function test MMSE, comparing the MMSE score among the LA, lacunar, normal groups. Result: MMSE score in LA group was lower than lacunar and control groups (P <0.01). The MMSE score in severe LA was lower than mild LA (P <0.01) and moderate LA (P <0.01). The anterior regional LA had stronger effect on congnition impairment. Conclusion: The LA can cause cognition impairment in those with sever LA, and The anterior regional LA had stronger effect on congnition impairment.
