A review of enhancement strategies for pyrocatalysis of perovskite oxides and their applications

摘要

Pyrocatalysis can induce positive and negative charges on the surface of pyroelectric materials owing to temperature fluctuations and can further generate reactive oxygen species to drive redox reactions, thus providing a potential solution to alleviate severe environmental pollution and energy crisis. Perovskite oxides are suitable catalysts for pyrocatalysis because of their high safety, environmental friendliness and structural adjustability. This review presents the research progress on pyrocatalysis of perovskite oxides. Firstly, the pyrocatalytic principle and the pyrocatalytic energy sources of perovskite oxides are introduced. Thereafter, strategies for enhancing the pyrocatalytic performance of perovskite oxides are categorized, including controlling morphology, electrical poling, constructing phase boundaries, introducing oxygen vacancies, mixing carbon, coating noble metals, leveraging multiple catalytic synergies and building heterostructures. Subsequently, the applications of perovskite oxide pyrocatalysis are focused. Finally, the current challenges in the field of pyrocatalysis are discussed, and future perspectives are provided.
