N2 - The end-to-end communication performance of multi-hop transmissions serve the basis of the upper-layer media applications in vehicular communications. There, however, lacks an accurate and practical analytical framework to effectively evaluate the end-to-end throughput and delay performance in VANET with the specific features of VANET, e.g., channel fading, node mobility and MAC contentions, taken into considerations. In this work, we adopt the queuing theory to analyse the multi-hop performance of vehicular communications. We start by investigating on the single-hop performance and then extends the results on the analysis of multi-hop communications.
