摘要

One-centimeter diameter fully glassy rods have been obtained using copper mold casting at the Cu_44.25Ag_14.75Zr₃₆Ti ₅ composition. Starting from the ternary glass Cu₆₀Zr ₃₃Ti₇ with a critical size of 3 mm, our search strategy in the quaternary composition tetrahedron enabled us to obtain the 10 mm glass by testing only about 40 alloy compositions. The dramatic increase in the glass-forming ability is attributed to the effects of Ag in stabilizing the liquid.
