N2 - In this paper, a new global method of error compensation is developed for the measuring system based on multi-linear structured light. Due to the complexity of the error which is related to the position of measured point, the mathematical model of the measuring system is established and analyzed in detail firstly. Then, according to the error's characters, an error surface which comprises all of the error data for compensation for each position in a light plane is conceived. And the error surface is produced by integrating and fitting the error data obtained by repeatedly measuring an elaborate standard plane at different heights. At last, a test is given to prove that the proposed method is effective.
