Abstract

K-shell ionization cross sections have been measured for atoms 18 ≤ Z ≤ 83 bombarded by relativistic electrons (15 ≤ E₀ ≤ 65 MeV). The Z and E dependence of the cross section exhibit systematic deviations from theory. A scaling behaviour is observed.
