Abstract
A methodology to simulate a real manufacturing process via VRML-oriental tele-presence is described. The purpose is to select a product-specific distributed manufacturing system in order to meet the needs of globalization and agility of the manufacturing. Investigated is a Web-based infrastructure which integrates the enabling technologies including VRML-EAI-oriented modeling of machine tools and manufacturing cells, and data preparation of dynamic evaluation via tele-presence. The above logic could be used to implement the selection, monitoring and scheduling of the distributed manufacturing system.
