Abstract

The viscoelastic properties of sheared binary fluids which have strong asymmetric dynamics between two components were studied. The effects of shear on stable phase-separated morphologies were also investigated. It was found that the dynamical asymmetry arises due to asymmetry between the viscoelastic stresses. The calculations were performed using a two-fluid model that incorporates the asymmetric stress distribution. The results of the simulations show that the underlying viscoelastic properties significantly influence the shearing behavior.
