Abstract

In this paper, we evaluate the probability of detection (PoD) of the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system using a previously proposed throughput model. In order to compare quantitatively the performance of different MIMO systems, we resort to the power cost needed for a MIMO system with multiple bit streams to reach the same PoD level as a SISO system. The simulated results for the cases of one bit stream in a 1×1 SISO system and two bit streams in a 2×2 MIMO system are verified towards measurements in reverberation chamber using the USRP of National Instruments.
