Unsplit perfectly matched layer for modeling wave propagation in coupled fluid/porous media

Abstract

An unsplit perfectly matched layer (PML), as absorbing boundary conditions, is presented to simulate the wave propagation in unbounded coupled acoustic/poroelastic media. The PML formulations for acoustic/poroelastic media that satisfy the interface coupling boundary condition are derived based on a coordinate-stretching approach. The numerical result shows well agreement with the previous analytical solution, which demonstrates that the proposed PML can effectively absorb both bulk waves and interface waves in coupled acoustic/poroelastic media.
