Abstract
A two-fluid model is used to simulate the flow and heat transfer of the vertical pipe in the quench chamber of a coal gasifer. Calculated are the synthetic gas, ash heat transfer and flow in the vertical pipe of the coal gasifier. The influences of different ash concentrations of coal show that the cooling of synthetic gas is affected by the ash concentration. The gas temperature can be improved by increasing the ash concentration while the low ash concentration coal is more suitable for coal gasifiers.
