Abstract

(Chemical Equation Presented) As good as red: Highly efficient pure red OLEDs based on iridium electrophosphors functionalized with hole-transporting triphenylamine dendrons are prepared (see picture). These bifunctional dendrimers give a peak efficiency of 11.7% with an excellent color quality and offer an attractive avenue for the development of metal phosphors with the optimized efficiency/color purity trade-offs required for pure red-emitting devices. OLED = organic light-emitting diode.
