Abstract
It is difficult to consider discontinuities in previous generalized thermoelastic models because cracks tend to produce singularities when using differential governing equations. In this paper, a peridynamic model based on the Green-Naghdi-III theory (PD-GN-III) is presented. This model offers a novel approach to resolve discontinuity issues in non-Fourier heat conduction, for avoiding the singularities near cracks. The numerical methods for solving equations and Dynamic Thermal Stress Intensity Factors (DTSIFs) in non-Fourier heat conduction are given, and thermo-mechanical responses of ideal interface and interface containing crack are systematically investigated for a bi-material plate. The results show that the PD-GN-III model can handle the strong discontinuity problem well and easily implement the crack extension. In addition, the form of heat conduction has a significant effect on the thermo-mechanical response and crack extension. For structures subjected to thermal shock, obtaining accurate temperature distribution is essential to characterize the thermo-mechanical response.
