Abstract
A new implant composed of calcium phosphate cement(CPC)/bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)/titanium frame is introduced to mend the low strength of CPC/BMP. Referring to the half-moon sections and sizes of canine radius, similarily shaped Ti-frame is designed and fabricated with computer-aided design and processing methods, then filled with CPC and implanted into the radial position of tested canine. By the animal experiment of half a year and succeeding experiment, the bone reconstruction model of this implant is built up. The results confirm that the atomic content of C increases following quadratic parabola, Ca and P contents decrease linearly but slowly, the Ca/P ratio keeps steadily; the CPC in the holes on the titanium frame is easier to be transformed than the other area without holes. The research reveals that the Ti-frame, without obvious effect on the degradation rate, fills a role of supporting to extend clinical application of the implant.
