Abstract
The time synchronization principle of IEEE1588 for the secondary equipment of intelligent substation is studied, the difference among existing main time reference systems is analyzed, and the application principle of time reference system is proposed based on engineering practices for the monitoring system of intelligent substation. As the binary signal acquisition module of the measuring and control system has been moved down to the intelligent terminal, a way to test the SOE time accuracy of intelligent substation is put forward. The results of IEEE1588 time synchronization test verifies that the SOE time accuracy is guaranteed only when the time tag is stamped at the intelligent terminal.
