Abstract

Poly (3, 4-Ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) films with smooth surface were deposited on Indium-doped Tin Oxide glass (ITO) electrodes using galvanostatic electropolymerization in propylene carbonate solvent. Their nonlinear optical properties were investigated by Z-scan technique at 532 nm. The nonlinear refractive index n2 and the third-order susceptibility χ(3) are - 3.09×10-6 esu and 6.90×10 -7 esu, respectively. The results indicate that the electropolymerized PEDOT films on ITO are promising materials for nonlinear optical devices.
