Abstract
This paper characterizes perforated plates or wire screens consisting matrix heat exchangers (MHE) by porous media and treats them as heterogeneous systems because of the fact that apparent heat conductivities of matrices perpendicular to and parallel to the flow direction are different from each other. This paper presents two-phase and one-phase two-dimensional models to describe stationary heat transfer processes in MHE. Based on the one-phase model, an analytical solution is developed for the temperature distribution in MHE with parallel flow arrangement.
