Abstract

In order to realise precision measurement of complex freeform surfaces, static and dynamic errors of the measurement instruments must be strictly controlled. During instrument assembly, it is very difficult to separate the main influence factors from the other various errors. This paper establishes a quasi-rigid body error model for a multi axis motion system composed of three linear axes and a rotating shaft, and presents a method of the reasonable simplification error model based on the measurement path to identify quickly the key error sources. Based on the example of standard gear measurement, the feasibility of this method is validated.
