The statistical characteristics of the interfacial waves in horizontal two-phase rectangular flow

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

With air and water as the working fluids, an investigation on the characteristics of the interfacial waves in gas-liquid two-phase flow in horizontal rectangular channel was conducted by using two-parallel conductance probes to measure the instantaneous liquid film thickness and signal statistical analysis methods. Firstly, the interfacial waves were distinguished and defined according to the experimental observations and their statistical characteristics. Secondly, the statistical characteristics of the interfacial waves in amplitude, time and frequency domains were examined and analyzed. Moreover, the variations of the interfacial parameters, such as wave frequency and wave speed, were also investigated with variations of gas and liquid volumetric fluxes.
