Abstract

The guide roller is an important part to ensure the stable web transmission in web processing system. The structure and mechanical properties always affect the web transfer stability. In this paper, the guide roller is simplified to a continuous beam model. Hermite function is established and the stiffness matrix of the beam element is derived. A multi-body combination finite element model is established for the modeling and simulation analysis. The results of simulation show that the deflection of the guide roller is mainly affected by its length, thickness, the web tension, the roller's gravity and the condition of the support. The maximum deformation occurs at the middle of the guide roller in axial direction.
