Abstract

In the process of smelting high Ti-bearing vanadium titano-magnetite with blast furnace, B2O3 can effectively improve high Ti-bearing sinter metallurgical properties and decrease the viscosity of high Ti-bearing slag. Then the distribution of boron in the slag and liquid Fe becomes important. In this work, the partition ratio of boron between CaO-SiO2-MgO- AI2O3-TiO2 and liquid Fe was examined with different compositions of slag by chemical equilibrium Technique at 1723 K (1450°C). The boron content of the iron was analysed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry (1CP-AES). Phase relations and compositions in the slags were characterized with SEM and EPMA. The results showed that the basicity was vital of importance for the distribution of boron in the slag and liquid Fe. The distribution ratio of boron increased with the increase of basicity of the slag. The higher value of boron distribution ratios (6.67-17.5) were obtained in the CaO-SiO2-Mg/o- Al2O3-TiO2 slag and the liquid Fe. Besides, the value of the Lb value can be adjusted by adjusting the value of CaO/SiO 2 in the slag according to the need of industrial production.
