Abstract
The object of the present work is to develop a numerical method in which boundary conditions that are as practical as possible can be used to calculate the temperature distribution in gas-shielded arc joints on parts of aluminium diecastings. The computer program developed for this purpose is based on the finite difference method, the relaxation process being used for the iterative temperature calculation. The quasi-stationary temperatures are calculated in a coordinate system associated with the heat source. At the same time the pore formation is incorporated in the weld seam and the weld reinforcement is incorporated in the numerical method. The calculations are performed for various welding conditions and the results are analysed.
