Abstract

This paper discusses the system identification of a typical remotely-operated flight vehicle (ROFV) known as Subzero III The process characteristics of Subzero III are analysed qualitatively based on its first-principle model in Matlab/SimulinkThis analysis provides the basis of why linear single-input/single output (SISO) system identification can be used for modelling the vehicle dynamics, Excitation signal design for system identification is discussed in detail. System identification simulations with the first-principle model in Matlab/Simulink are presented, followed by system identification tests in an experimental tank. Finally, the models obtained through the simulation and experimental study are compared and analysed.
