Abstract

To improve impregnating property of Polypropylene film, surface modification of Polypropylene film with dielectric barrier corona discharge in atmospheric pressure is carried out in this paper. A dielectric barrier corona discharge (DBCD) generator is designed and employed for surface modification. The Electrical properties of DBCD, surface analyses of Polypropylene films including chemical components, microstructures and hydrophilic property of films before and after processing are carried out. The experiment results show that after plasma treatment, a great deal of oxygen-containing groups is introduced to Polypropylene films, the surface oxygen content of PP film increases to 10%, and contact angle decreases by 30%. The surface roughness of Polypropylene film is also enhanced and the impregnating property of Polypropylene films can be improved by DBCD plasma treatment.
